Biography

Rodney “Rodchata” Aquino, a writer and teacher, had been dancing for over 10 years. His dance background includes Latin International Ballroom (Rumba, Chachacha, Paso doble, Jive, Samba), salsa (On1, Mambo On2 and Cuban Timba), cha cha cha, merengue and bachata. He had his first bachata encounter five years in ago in the East Coast and has been dancing and studying it since. He was the first instructor spreading the bachata in San Francisco, and one of the few people that started promoting bachata in the Bay Area. He is the founder of the popular salsa website, Salsagang. It is a website community where dancers can voice out their opinions, cure their boredom, connect, network, write articles, gossip, and even promote their salsa events. Since creating Salsagang, he had the opportunity to teach the bachata dance at big salsa events all over such as San Francisco Intl Salsa Congress, Reno Dance Sensation, Salsa Extravaganza (Palm Springs), Salsa Summer Splash (Palm Springs), North West Salsa Congress (Seattle), Chico Dance Sensation, Sacramento Salsa Fest and Dallas Salsa Congress. Aside from dancing, he has a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology, a certified Personal Fitness Trainer and holds 4th Degree Black Belt in the Martial Arts.
